MenB (Meningitis B) Vaccine – Important Update
We’ve received a number of queries following recent media coverage about the MenB vaccine and wanted to clarify the current NHS position.
🔹 There is currently no MenB vaccination programme for adults on the NHS. This means we are unable to offer this vaccine to adults at the practice. Some private providers may offer it.
🔹 The MenB vaccine has been part of the routine childhood immunisation programme since 1 May 2015.
What this means:
• Anyone born before 1 May 2015 (including teenagers and young adults) will not have received the MenB vaccine as part of the NHS schedule
• Babies are now routinely offered the vaccine as part of the Vaccine Schedule. Eligible children will be automatically invited for their vaccinations.
⚠️ If you are concerned about possible meningitis symptoms, please seek urgent medical advice.
