Sleaford Medical Group provides an Minor Illness Service outside of GP normal practice hours, weekends and bank holidays. In addition they provide a Minor Injuries Service daily.
On arrival, patients are assessed & treated by a trained nurse or doctor as appropriate, however in some cases it may be necessary to refer patients on to further treatment at a hospital. The services are available to patients whether or not they are registered with a GP, and can provide care for those not living in Sleaford or the surrounding area. The unit can care for patients attending with both minor illnesses and injuries and is a walk in service.
They will be able to treat a range of conditions including the following, however this list is not exhaustive:
Minor injuries: 8:00am – 8:00pm Monday- Friday and 8:00am – 6:00pm at weekends and on bank holidays (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Sunday)
- Minor cuts and grazes
- Minor cuts requiring stitches
- Acute sprains and strains
- Acute sports injuries
- Animal and human bites
- Removal of foreign bodies
- Minor burns
- Minor neck injury
- Whiplash
- Foreign bodies in eyes
Minor illness: Outside of your GP’s normal practice hours only (Monday – Friday 6:30pm – 8:00pm) & 8:00am – 6.00pm at weekends and bank holidays (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter Sunday)
- Chest infections
- Skin infections
- Joint and Limb pain/stiffness
- Genito-urinary infections, including STIs
- Abdominal pain without fever
- Insect stings
- Diarrhoea and vomiting
- Coughs (for less than four weeks)
- Ear infections
- Breathing related problems including (asthma, bronchitis and COPD)
They cannot provide care for serious injuries, major accidents, severe chest pains, serious breathing problems, severe pain of any description (e.g. likely appendicitis), road traffic accidents, anaphylactic reactions or collapse.
